Chennai Expess will cross £2 million in UK

After shattering many a records in India, #ChennaiExpress is on the verge of creating another, albeit this time in UK.

Chennai Expess will cross £2 million in UK and it is after three years that a film has managed to breach the figure. The last being My Name Is Khan. Only fiive films have reached £2 million and all are shahrukh Khan starrers. The market which was super hot from when the overseas market opened up in the mid 90's till around 2008 has been on the downward slide since then.

The top grossers in UK till date are as follows.

1. My Name Is Khan - £2.630,000

2. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham - £2,500,000

3. Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna - £2,061,000

4. Veer Zaara - £2,012,000

5. Chennai Express - £1,925,000 (still running)

6. 3 Idiots - £1,860,000

7. Devdas - £1,690,000

8. Kal Ho Naa Ho - £1,675,000

9. Jab Tak Hai Jaan - £1,621,000

10. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi - £1,502,000


The top five films now are all Shahrukh Khan starrers and nine of the top ten are SRK starrers with 3 Idiots being the only non SRK film.
